2020 Conference Keynote Speaker

Elaine Duncan

Chief Executive Scottish Bible Society

Elaine is returning to WATH to lead our main sessions for the second time, exploring the stories of three women named Mary who all knew Jesus and made the decision to follow him.  Elaine will encourage us in our Christian faith as we study the challenges of these three women and their desire to follow Jesus.

Elaine is the Chief Executive of the Scottish Bible Society.  The work of the Society is to support Bible work (translation, production and distribution) around the world and to encourage Bible engagement in Scotland.  Elaine is not only enthusiastic about people having a Bible in their own language, but also in helping people understand it and grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ through it.  The focus of Elaine’s work has always been to encourage people to know God better as they interact with his Word.

Elaine’s previous employment has been with Scripture Union Scotland and the Universities and Colleges Christian Fellowship.  She has a degree in Behavioural Sciences (psychology) and worked for 18 months in a psychiatric unit.

Elaine says fresh air, exercise, good coffee, stimulating friends and food go into making a great day!  Elaine is originally from Cumbria. She now lives in Glasgow, works in Edinburgh and supports the Scottish rugby team!

“Every speaker was clear, engaging and it was hugely encouraging. Loved meeting everyone from everywhere! It was wonderful to be part of such a crowd and the worship was amazing – beautiful.”

“The speaker’s talk challenged me to think about how I am living out my faith in my day to day life, not just on Sundays. I gained so much from the seminars and the time of fellowship too.”

“Good coffee, encouraging discussions and inspiring worship.  So good to meet women from all over the north of Scotland and share about Jesus together.”
